The strategy project analyst is part of the Strategy Development team within the Corporate Strategy organization. The strategy project analyst's principal role involves routinely leading and managing projects involving complex issues that require cooperative efforts across the company, to include the businesses and functions. The focus is on the development of company-wide strategies and action plans, the development of macro-level competitive assessment, and potential support in the development of the strategic rationale for mergers and acquisitions targets. A large portion of this work involves special projects for the company's senior leadership, including the CEO and Board of Directors. This work involves self-initiated research and analysis around markets, customer priorities, capabilities, competitors, and specific market opportunities. Major responsibilities of a strategy project analyst include:
Routinely take on responsibilities for the development of company-wide strategies by working with the businesses and functions to characterize the market assigned (usually mission area-related or country-specific}, to include market definition and segmentation; conduct capability assessment and gap analysis; and conduct competitive assessment. Must leverage an existing company-wide network or be able to create a new network in short order.
Routinely lead small-team special projects that are requested by the company's senior leadership and involve complex issues and analysis requiring discretion, keen judgment, and enterprise-level collaboration. This involves "leading from the middle" as the project analyst works with and guides more junior members of the team and often consults with more senior-level members for their expertise and insights.
Support portfolio analysis, which involves assessing capabilities and financial metrics against strategy and market opportunities for our own company, as well as assessing competitor portfolios based on open-source materials, from 10K reports to web sites and press releases.
Establish productive working relationships with the strategy groups, business development organizations, engineering, and finance functions within the businesses who might contribute to key Corporate Strategy projects with the goal of establishing lasting relationships and a robust network across the company.
Support the preparation of senior-level corporate briefings, which involves rolling up detailed data into "what it means" and then communicating that insight at the right level for senior decision-makers.
