The ORC Investigator is part of the A&F Asset protection field-based team and is responsible for the support of Organized Retail Crime (ORC) investigations and awareness within their assigned market. The ORC Investigator will work with various business partners to identify and mitigate ORC activity and external theft occurring within our brands and identify proactive measures to reduce company exposure to external theft.
The ORC Investigator will have responsibility in maintaining the high standards established around organized retail crime investigations and preventative training. Success will be measured through personal accomplishments and driving results within the field organization. Up to 50% overnight travel may be required to complete the requirements of this position.
Responsible for working with the Regional Managers of Asset Protection and other field level associates and store associates to identify ORC and external theft opportunities.
Reports to the ORC Manager. Provides weekly progress reports and highlights the areas of success and opportunity throughout assigned area. Effectively communicates results and recommendations and maintains a high level of case organization.
Responsible for ORC case initiation and gathering intelligence through use of investigative resources (i.e. exception-based reporting, store reports, awareness training procedures, Open source intelligence investigations, etc.) and Static/mobile surveillance to determine the scope of the investigation and appropriate resolution.
Responsible for effective case management and thorough documentation through use of company Case Management System and company documents to build and package cases.
Leverages state and local ORC laws and coordinates with appropriate Law Enforcement (local, state, and federal) for the effective prosecution of cases and restitution recovery with assistance from Corporate Investigator and ORC Manager.
Provides Director of Investigations, Corporate Investigator, and other key business partners with relevant ORC data, action plans, budgetary costs, and results.
Analyzes and communicates ORC trends, activity, and case progress to management and cross functional partners on a regular basis.
Leads and coordinates aggressive field blitz operations.
Establishes key partnerships with Law Enforcement, Mall Security, Retail business partners and ORC Alliances.
Establishes and maintains open lines of communication and information sharing with peer industry ORC and Loss Prevention departments.
Provides field Asset Protection associates ORC awareness training; assist store personnel with awareness training and
Maintain positive working relationships with AP Teams, Financial Institutions, Law Enforcement, Legal partners, and peer Industry partners to identify, implement and impact training and programs to prevent fraud and reduce loss potential.
Works collaboratively with other ORC Team members for continued development of ORC program
Minimum of 2+ years ORC investigations and interviewing experience
3+ years of multi store Loss Prevention/Asset Protection experience
Wicklander Zulawski interview training preferred
Ability to work nights, evenings and weekends appropriate to retail business needs.
Proficiency in exception-based reporting, trending analysis. Experience with the use of industry-based software tools that include Aspect, LPSoftware and Profitect beneficial.
Must have attention to detail with a strong focus on analytics and strong problem-solving skills
Must be a team player with superior communication (both oral and written), interpersonal and consultative skills
Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately
Highly motivated with ability to thrive in a fluid and demanding environment
Must fulfill all physical requirements including standing and walking
