Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Planned Parenthood Southeast's Teen Council (TC) program. TC consists of high school students in Savannah and the surrounding areas who are interested in learning about sexual health and who are, or want to become, leaders in their communities.
This is a volunteer opportunity; you will not be paid, however, your hours count towards community service hours.
Teen Council members:
gain formal presentation skills
gain advocacy & leadership skills
gain extensive knowledge about sexual health topics such as consent, sexually transmitted infections, birth control, healthy relationships, sexual orientation, gender, and more
work as part of a team and meet new people
educate their peers in formal presentations and informal conversations
attend weekly meetings with dinner provided
attend a mandatory, free weekend retreat (dates pending)

Time Commitment: August 2020 - May 2021, 2.5 hours per week minimum
Represents Planned Parenthood Southeast (PPSE) in the community.
Provide sexuality education to classes and other groups.
Act as a resource about sexuality information for your peers.
Refer students to community resources when appropriate.
Participate in special activities.
Attend weekly Teen Council meetings and other training as scheduled
Must be a high school student (10th-12th grade) enrolled for the 2020-2021 academic school year. Home-school students ages 14-18 included.
Must be able to balance school, Teen Council participation, and any other extra-curricular activities.
Able to maintain confidentiality of personal information.
Demonstrate respect for diverse opinions, beliefs and values
Able to make at least a one-year commitment to Teen Council
