Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking Elementary School Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year at an independent school in Boston.
The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, a strong background in education and a genuine love for teaching children. You will be responsible for teaching students in the Lower School a variety of subjects and skills, including social-emotional learning, language arts, math, and social studies.
Responsibilities of the Elementary Teacher:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and encourages student engagement colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective curriculum.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning that meet the needs of all learners.
- Communicate clear learning targets & success criteria to students for all learning activities.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom to facilitate learning.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents on their child’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements.
- Maintain safety & security of the students in the classroom and common school areas.
- Supervise students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
- Attend all parent teacher conferences, back to school nights, faculty meetings, and substitute in one class per week as needed.
- Supervise lunch and recess.
- Support the team with carpool and dismissal procedures.
- Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practices.
Qualifications of the Elementary Teacher:
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Dedication to creating a nurturing and challenging learning environment for our students
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a lower school setting
- Certification or in progress (preferred not required)
- Strong knowledge of pedagogical practices and learning theories
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
Potential Benefits: Compensation and benefit packages are competitive but will differ by school and will typically depend on geographic location, your experience, and your level of degree.
