Agmet’s Safety Officer supports Agmet’s Environmental Health & Safety’s EHS Department and related operations with a heavy boots-on-the ground approach to ensure safety and environmental procedures are understood, followed, and resonate with the Team. The Safety Officer ensures that the team recognizes hazards and reports hazards and corrects the situation(s).
This position serves both facilities but reports to the Oakwood Village location as the home base and requires working outside in inclement weather along with intermittent office work.
The Safety Officer’s responsibilities include:
- Coach, guide and correct facility/shift supervisors to foster top-of-mind safety.
- Work with Team to ensure safety is integrated into processes and decisions.
- Collaborate with management.
- Identify and promote safety-related initiatives.
- Implement and audit safety procedures and programs.
- Identify hazards and assess risk levels using various tools.
- Conduct, review and update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Conduct incident/accident analysis.
- Manage and conduct facility employee, temp, and contractor training.
- Enforce regulatory and corporate rules, standards, and procedures.
- Stay abreast of existing and emerging regulations and standards.
- Assist the EHS Director to review and update programs, plans, and procedures.
- Assist with, or conduct, Industrial Hygiene events.
- Conduct / manage respiratory program requirements including fit testing.
- Assist with Drug-Free Safety Program and reasonable suspicion events.
- Assist EHS Department with environmental compliance.
Candidate background:
- 5yrs+ as a safety professional in an industrial or construction setting.
- Extensive knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and/or 29 CFR 1926.
- MS Office applications proficiency required.
- Punctuality and reliability are a must.
- In-person group training and hands-on training experience a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Industrial Hygiene experience a plus.
- Experience with fit-testing a plus.
- CSD, MSP, ASP, CSP, and/or CIH credentials receive priority consideration.
