Our client, located in New York City is adding a Controller to the team.
In this role the ideal candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:
Performs accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter -end and annual reports, including footnotes, income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, Stat to GAAP reconciliation and various other schedules.
Prepare technical accounting memos, as required.
Develop accounting policy memos for reinsurance accounting.
Prepare monthly journal entries and monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
Determine and update deferred acquisition costs amortization to ensure amortization matches recoverability.
Coordinate with external auditors and provide supporting documentation.
Work closely with investment manager on forecasts, budget planning and other ad hoc requests.
Assist with review of financial models.
Ensures timely payments and receipts of broker invoices regarding insurance and reinsurance contracts
Requirements for the position include:
5+ years of relevant experience with insurance companies, working with life and retirement assets.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics
Exceptional knowledge of US GAAP and Statutory Statement preparation
Proficient with general ledger transactions and financial statement preparation.
Experience with reinsurance accounting highly preferred
Active CPA license preferred
