The event manager is a brand ambassador who will work with a variety of constituents; someone who will focus priorities while juggling multiple tasks and goals. This person will be an adept event producer and possess a high level of social media skills. The event manager oversees event logistical coordination for Dairy Block landmark events, activations and pop-ups.

This is a position that requires excellent organization and communication skills so daily tasks are successfully completed in an efficient and timely manner. Conducts themselves in a professional, hospitable manner to guests and staff members always, representing McWHINNEY and the Dairy Block brand as a key ambassador for the neighborhood and community.

Core Responsibilities

Merchant/Tenant Relations: Communicate with tenants on a regular basis. Assist with marketing needs as it relates to the block. Oversee collateral creation including videos, photography, print and digital assets as it relates to the tenants at Dairy Block.

Events/Activations: Work with the experience director and marketing teams from all partners to create a calendar of events that are evergreen and pop-up activations. Lead all production and events throughout the year. Coordinate with all retailers to create additional events that are collaborative and benefit retailers and the entire block.

Advertising/Branding: Update all property and advertising materials as it relates to the block and tenants. Oversee and assist with the creation of temporary and permanent signage. Able to create digital and print collateral materials utilizing Adobe Creative Suite. Works closely with brand manager, street teams and the marketing team to execute on brand and advertising facets benefiting Dairy Block.

Graphic Design: Responsible for marketing inquiries directed to general information lines and website, including advertising and sales inquiries. Create posters, flyers, ads and brochures as needed. Orchestrate any collaborative promotional giveaways by tenants that benefit the entire block.

Website: Lead on website development and be able to implement simple website updates such as news postings, copy changes and digital asset uploads. Post PR, news and events on the website weekly. Manage monthly email newsletter and content of the Dairy Block opted-in audience. Ensure maximum web presence, exposure and search engine optimization for all sites.

Social Media: Responsible for composing social media calendar, content and updates for Dairy Block. Maintain frequent and creative social media content updates via a strategic calendar that also incorporates Dairy Block and tenant messaging. Monitoring social media of all tenants. Staying current on emerging trends in social media.
Tourism: Manage Dairy Block brochure and promotional material inventory, ensuring distribution in the marketplace.

  • Computer Software Proficiencies: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress
  • Design: Able to create flyers, brochures, posters
  • Web: Able to edit websites in WordPress
  • College degree in marketing, business, communication, journalism or related field
  • Must be highly motivated and a quick learner
  • Highly organized
  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willing and able to work long hours on evenings and weekends when necessary, including some holidays
  • Event work: long hours on feet (18 hours), able to lift and carry 30 pounds
  • Graphic Design experience a must. You will be responsible for basic flyers, brochures and posters

College degree in marketing communications; two years related experience and/or training. Previous event management experience a must.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and make appropriate decisions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
