DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Medical Records Assistant reviews all admission records (7-10 calendar days following the initial treatment plan) for completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of treatment plan entries and multidisciplinary admission assessments. Deficiencies are recorded on a Data Collection Document form and copies are then distributed in accordance with departmental procedures. Assembles, arranges, files, reviews and verifies the accuracy and completeness of technical medical record documents in compliance with the standards of the hospital, the department and various accrediting agencies. Makes routine operational decisions regarding the H.I.M. - Medical Record Department such as chart analysis, filing/stamping of record documents, coding (ICD-9-CM), supply requisitions, routine telephone inquiries.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Must meet PA residency requirement
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - One year of clerical experience in a medical records department of a hospital, or ambulatory acute medical care setting or a licensed nursing facility, which has included six months of experience under the general direction or oversight by a registered Medical Records Technician or Administrator; and graduation from high school; OR graduation from a medical secretarial or medical records program; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
