The Business Development Senior Manager plays a significant role in securing new business and positioning the company for growth. Reporting to the Chief of Communications & Growth, the Business Development Senior Manager will oversee the implementation of business objectives, including sales, marketing, product, and market development activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and execute a strategy to actively pursue new business opportunities and sell transportation services across various customer groups, including state agencies and large regional health plans that provide Medicaid/Medicare Advantage Transportation Benefits
- Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to close by prioritizing and determining which potential opportunities have the highest probability of closing
- Meet prospective customers to understand requirements, demonstrate our capabilities, and provide prompt, accurate responses to sales inquiries. Promote and build professional client relationships; meet clients and prospects and give presentations to build rapport and confidence in line with the agreed business strategy and plans
- Oversee the RFP and contracting process by collaborating with colleagues for the timely submission of bids
- Research and leverage the latest industry intelligence and online resources to create new opportunities to expand the business
- Manage the creation of new sales tools and materials
- Collaborate with the sales and operations team to meet requirements such as sales numbers and profit goals. Communicate project attributes and critical risks to the management team in support of investment decision making
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task; work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of work experience in Sales, Business Operations, Project Management, Marketing, or equivalent - ideally at a transportation and health services management company
- Understanding of selling and sales development techniques; prospecting, objection handling, and qualifying
- Flexibility to travel within the United States
- Medicaid/Health Insurance Industry experience, highly desired
- Demonstrable experience in developing clients from standing start to onboarded
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to achieving tangible results in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional relationship management
- Experienced in developing and implementing strategic processes to increase team efficiencies
- Strong, succinct communications: Skilled in speaking, writing, presenting, and negotiating across multiple stakeholders
- Looks at problems with an analytical and iterative mindset, with a framework for prioritization
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field and a minimum of 3 years of sales, development, and account management experience in a similar position or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Clear track record of success in achieving and exceeding sales objectives. Experience in transportation services, healthcare, insurance, or related field is a strong plus.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Possesses easy confidence in delivering a pitch in front of a panel of potential customers
- Demonstrated self-starter who can sell and promote business growth opportunities in a highly effective manner
- Able to work with limited supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and other related industry tools.
- Functions performed requires the ability to communicate detailed information with other employees or the general public under conditions where basic understanding or sensitivity may be necessary to effectively promote and maintain relationships.
- Works well in a hybrid/remote work environment.
