Industrial Maintenance Technician
The Industrial Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine, ongoing preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment within the fast-paced manufacturing operations of the Plymouth, IN Valmont Industries, Inc. Engineered Support Structures Division. This position is responsible for ensuring continuous, peak machine performance to avoid minimal interruption to the daily production schedules and processes.

Essential Functions:
Perform routine and scheduled maintenance procedures
Install and align new equipment, as needed
Diagnose, dismantle, repair, reassemble and adjust machinery
Perform maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime
Utilize tools and equipment of different trades including electrical, plumbing, machinist, carpentry, welding, etc. to perform routine maintenance operations
Assist with electrical work
Repairs worn parts, straightens and fabricates fixtures
Performs major repairs/replacements
Responsible for maintaining tools and equipment
Work safely with the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to Valmont safety policies
Lead by example to promote and nurture a safety minded environment
Support improvement efforts and seek continuous improvements within the Maintenance department
Maintain procedures to ensure high standards of productivity, quality, cost effectiveness and safety

Other Important Details about the Role:
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager
This role requires schedule flexibility, including working nights and weekends, as needed
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing industrial maintenance
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience with manufacturing equipment including hydraulic machines, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, mills, lathes, pneumatics, etc.
Ability to read and comprehend blueprint drawings and schematics
Strong working knowledge of single and three phase electrical circuitry with ability to read electrical schematics
Experience with water and natural gas plumbing
Carpentry skills
Ensure compliance with OSHA, State standards and organizational policies as well as Environmental Management
Take initiative to make decisions, lead issues towards resolution, take timely action and demonstrate complete follow through
Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to adapt to the audience and professionally communicate with a variety of people
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

Management/Supervisory/Lead experience
Experience performing MIG welding on steel and aluminum
Advanced Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, preferred
Demonstrated experience and results within a lean manufacturing environment
Ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines
Diverse knowledge of CNC equipment, torch/plasma, fab punch and brake press
A person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to all conditions that exist in the plant such as dust, dirt, grease, heat, fumes, odors, wet conditions, and cold as well as noise levels above 80 decibels. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. In addition, the nature of the industry results in extreme heat in the summer (typically 10-15 degrees above outdoor temperature), and melting snow off of incoming material results in damp, cold working conditions in the winter. These conditions range from severe to mild and can happen daily in any combination. Many aspects of this role are physical and the incumbent must be able to lift, push, &/or pull up to 50 pounds by hand. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and arms as well as balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb and work from ladders. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish colors, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
