Summary
About the Position: This position is located at the DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic, Physical Performance, Fit to Win Clinic, located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The clinic provides acute and routine care services to approximately 8,000 active duty and VIP personnel assigned to the Pentagon, and generally operates from 0700 - 1600 Monday through Friday. Clinic hours may be extended to complete patient care.

Responsibilities
Designing, prescribing and administering individualized physical fitness programs to improve athletic performance, physical fitness tests scores, weight loss or weight gain, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and improve general fitness.
Conduct/manage all aspects of physical fitness testing and optimal physical performance enhancement services.
Conduct health risk assessment services.
Conduct physical fitness tests/exams/evaluations/screenings, such as: Functional Movement Screening, Posture Analysis Screening, Body Composition Screening, etc.
Identify injury/illnesses associated with participation in athletics.
Prescribe individualized exercise programs for patients and provide counseling.
Develop and present health education courses pertaining to injury prevention, fitness, performance, and/or other specialty health topics.
Teaching health and wellness classes to include exercise guidance and technique.
Coordinate with other wellness staff members to implement comprehensive health and wellness plans.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Strength and conditioning experience for competitive athletes, post physical therapy patients, pre- and post-partum women, and complex medical patients such as diabetics, chronic pain or fibromyalgia patients, and osteoporotic patients; preparing educational materials and presenting training for health/fitness to include strength training and running methods; conducting or interpreting fitness screenings/evaluations (ie body composition, aerobic capacity, functional movement). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
