Deputy Fire Marshal

The Deputy Fire Marshal is responsible for overseeing the Bureau of Fire Prevention Division and also for performing a variety of professional, administrative and managerial duties in relation to fire prevention and public education, community risk reduction, fire investigation, plans reviews, site inspections, and other duties as assigned. The position reports to the Deputy Chief of Administration/Fire Marshal and interacts with Town management and personnel, property owners, area businesses, local media, homeowners, developers, insurance agents, consultants, other related professionals, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Technology or related field; and
  • Extensive fire code interpretation and enforcement experience; or
  • Any combination of education, experience, special qualifications and training that provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Certified IFSAC/ProBoard Firefighter 1 & 2.
  • Certified IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer II & III.
  • Certified Fire Inspector, Level I and II (ICC or NFPA).
  • Certified Fire Plans Examiner (ICC or NFPA).
  • Certified SC State Fire Marshal within six (6) months of hire.
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (NFPA) or Certified Fire Marshal (ICC) within six (6) months of hire.
  • Training equivalent to Haz Mat Operations in accordance with 29 CFR 120.
  • Must be in good physical health as determined by a medical examination.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Salary: $68,744.00 to $87,649.00 /year
