About the Position:
The Systems Admin and Analytics group is accountable for the administration of PC&E specific tools (estimating software, scheduling software, reporting dashboards, etc.). They will serve as the main interface with Information Systems (IS) for all needs of PC&E organization.
This role is responsible for leading and providing direction to the team of Analysts collating and analysing estimated and/or financial actual data within one or multiple areas.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Work closely with management and provide team leadership to ensure that organizational goals are communicated to the team and that group direction is consistent with corporate strategy, direction and growth objectives
Lead, motivate and develop the team, allocate resources and provide the necessary training and coaching in order to develop a performance-based culture and ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives.
Provide guidance and coaching to team members to ensure their effective development to meet their personal aspirations and future business needs.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and value for money by challenging current processes, methods of project and scheme costing and cost control to ensure that efficient delivery.
Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within own area of specialism.
Work with process owners, management and peer Managers to identify and implement business process improvement and best practices in a consistent manner; and remain abreast of changing technologies and industry best practices.
Monitors quality of others work, checks to ensure procedures are followed when data is submitted in metrics or reports.
Monitor year on year accuracy of estimated costs and challenge business processes in order to ensure National Grid is compliant with applicable regulations and delivers projects on budget. Document findings and develop improvement plans based on the analysis.
Maintain and provide information such as regulatory information in order to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid electric estimating policies, processes and programs.
Monitor and review estimating information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information.
Perform research on data discrepancies between estimate and actual results while working with estimators, other departments and stakeholders to ensure that accurate data is provided to the organisation.
Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid.
Prepare and publish various reports to support department KPI’s, stakeholder communication and regulatory requirements as well as develop, review and implement departmental procedures and policies.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Proficient MS Office computer skills (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems
Experience of development of KPI’s and production metrics.
Strong problem-solving, statistical and analytical skills.
Knowledge of relevant electric industry practice. Knowledge of current trends within the electric utility industry.
Able to analyze multiple sources of data and see relationships between those sources of data, identifying several likely differences, causes or consequences of estimate/actual data or financial/project information.
Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly and non-defensively and communicates customer expectations to monitor delivery and satisfaction.
Able to use direct persuasion to influence others, using basic data, logic or a solid business case when responding to requests from customers and stakeholders.
