The University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health is seeking a Research Scientist for their Health Policy & Management Department.
The Research Scientist will develop, design and lead several research projects for the Medicaid Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh Health Policy Institute. Potential Medicaid projects will include forecasting trends in Medicaid enrollment and costs; analyses of cost-containment initiatives; long-term care program evaluation; social determinants of health; examining the impact of social service use on health and economic outcomes; and studies of the supply of health care providers.
This position will collaborate with faculty members from all schools of the health sciences, along with data analysts and students on specific Medicaid projects. The Research Scientist will lead some research projects and provide consultation to collaborators on the design and execution of other research projects. The incumbent will design study protocols and analysis plans, manage the conduct of analyses of data using advanced statistical analysis techniques, and contribute both to grant proposals manuscript writing. The incumbent will be asked to train and supervise staff on advanced statistical and economic analyses.
Candidates must have extensive experience with SAS and STATA and other statistical software packages and knowledge of advanced statistical procedures. Experience with very large healthcare data sets is also required.
A writing sample is required as part of the application process. The document submitted can be any professional presentation, proposal, project plan, or written communication, and should be demonstrative of clear, effective, and grammatically correct communication skills.

Doctoral degree in economics, statistics, biostatistics, health services research, health policy, or computer science. *Combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of doctoral degree.
