Definition of Class
This is a professional, 9 month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position with a teaching load of six hours (2) courses per semester, research and service to the department, University and the profession.
Examples of Work Performed
Teaches courses as assigned in the Department of Social Work (the equivalent of two credit courses per semester).
Provides academic advising to students.
Engages in research and service to the profession and the community.
Works with students, faculty and professional social workers in the community.
Maintains an active research agenda leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Obtains federal grants or other external funds for state agency or community-based research partnerships.
Develops multidisciplinary research connections on and off the UM campus.
Teaches across the curriculum with particular emphasis on evidence-informed clinical practice and service.
A Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program and a doctorate in social work or related field (both required).
Two (2) years of post-MSW social work practice experience.
