We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Fabrication Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in accurately estimating costs for shop fabrication projects. This position requires a strong understanding of standard welding processes, construction materials, industry pricing, and the ability to analyze project specifications to provide precise and competitive estimates. The Fabrication Estimator will collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers, suppliers, sales staff, subcontractors and customers to ensure the successful and cost-effective execution of shop projects.
Responsibilities:
Project Analysis & Cost Estimation:
Review project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to understand the scope, materials, and requirements of each project.
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for pipe, steel components, vessels and structural weldments, considering all relevant factors such as materials, labor, equipment, sub-contractor requirements and overhead costs.
Utilize historical data, industry benchmarks, and market trends to ensure competitive and accurate estimates
Accurately perform quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings and specifications to determine the amount of materials required for each project
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates, providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies
Supplier and Subcontractor Interaction
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors in order to communicate effectively and secure competitive quotes for materials and services and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
Documentation
Maintain accurate and organized records of all estimates, quotes, and correspondence with suppliers and subcontractor
Collaboration:
Work closely with customers, project managers, engineers, procurement and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates align with project timelines, specifications, and quality standards. Site visits to customer facilities may be required.
Qualifications:
Estimating, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a Fabrication Estimator in the manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of pipe and steel materials, industry pricing, and construction practices.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Working knowledge of ASME standards and practices a plus.
Working knowledge of the Auto-CAD suite of products and SolidWorks a plus
General knowledge of welding and fabrication processes a plus
