A small, dedicated, service-oriented construction company in Purcellville, Virginia is seeking to hire an individual to provide accounts payable support to the accounting department. The ideal candidate is efficient and comfortable being a member of a team, is resourceful, a problem solver and organized.
Receives, reviews and verifies invoices, enters invoices into system with preliminary coding to expense accounts and cost centers, and routes them for approval. Posts approved invoices in system.Records accrual journal entries if necessary and is familiar with recording inter-company transactions.
Resolves invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation; ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.
Calculates use tax on paid invoices and reports use taxes to state agencies.
Maintains vendor ledgers in accounting software. This includes insuring vendors have W-9’s on file and up-to-date certificates of insurance with proper coverage.
Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions; researches and resolves invoice discrepancies and issues.
Assists with month-end close and provides supporting documentation for audits.
Education & Experience:
Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, 2+ years’ experience in accounts payable with job costing.
Knowledge of Foundation Software (not required, but a plus),
Proficient in Excel and Word.
