Position Title: Sr. PV Designer
Reports to: Supervising Electrical Engineer
Engineer Level 3: Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives. This level requires developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate-level education. Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Assistance is furnished on unusual problems. Work is reviewed for correctness and application of the QAQC Process and professional judgment. Includes responsibilities and tasks outlined in Engineer Levels 1 – 2.
May supervise or coordinate the work of other designers and CAD drafters
Essential Job Functions:
Perform progressively independent design of commercial and utility scale PV systems
Perform design tasks assigned by Designers or Engineers
Markup of the electrical power systems/ preparation of drawings
Assemble design drawings and documents and provide or coordinate delivery
Perform broad range of engineering calculations - and use of software tools
Coordinate portions of design effort and coordination of project scope requirements
Perform and develop engineering calculations
Increased interaction with Project Manager, external design teams and information management
Maintain professional and technical development goals to acquire PE certification
Obtain Professional Development and Training
Thorough understanding of the Engineering department's design and CAD/BIM workflows
Thorough understanding of CEI's business inter-department functions
Thorough proficient use of AutoCAD - MEP/REVIT, CAD, PVsyst, and file management
Thorough proficient understanding of fundamental communication and power systems for large scale commercial and utility solar projects
Thorough understanding of the various State and National CODES governing our work
Provide Conformance to the Standards and processes outlined by the CAD/BIM Manager
Electrical Engineering or similar Bachelor of Science degree
2-3 years working for an electrical/solar design firm or design build electrical/solar contractor
Basic Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD MEP/REVIT, PVsyst - Etap/SKM (desired)
Good time management, communication and people skills
