Cloud Support Associate - Big Data

  • Knowledge in (2) or more in these areas:
o Knowledge in Linux (RHEL/CentOS) Systems Administration
o Knowledge with Networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, traceroute, dig)
o Knowledge Hadoop ecosystem (Apache Spark, Apache Hive, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field OR equivalent experience in a technical position

AWS Premium Support provides global technical support to a wide range of external customers as they build mission-critical applications on top of AWS services such as Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2. We have a team of talented Support Engineers located in 8 countries around the world, and are growing rapidly. We are seeking Big Data Cloud Engineers with an affinity for big-data tools and Linux administration.

  • Leverage your extensive customer support experience to provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve our services
  • Drive customer communication during critical events
  • Drive projects that improve support-related processes and our customers’ technical support experience
  • Write tutorials, how-to videos, and other technical articles for the customer community
  • Work on critical, highly complex customer problems that may span multiple AWS services
  • 1+ years of experience in Hadoop
o 1+ years of experience in Linux (RHEL/CentOS) Systems Admnistration
o 1+ years of experience with Networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, traceroute, iperf, dig)
o Experience with Active Directory and Kerberos authentication is a plus
  • Experience in Spark, Hive, Oozie, and Presto
  • Experience with NoSQL
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
  • Excellent knowledge of Hadoop architecture and administration and support
  • Understanding of ETL principles and how to apply them within Hadoop
  • Familiarity with a programming language such as Java, Python, or Bash
  • Good understanding of distributed computing environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience
  • Self-starter who is excited about learning new technology
  • Prior working experience with AWS - any or all of EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, DynamoDB, EMR, IAM
