Full Job Description

The Brunswick School is a growing Early Childhood Education company located in Downtown Jersey City. Our successful program is looking for assistant teachers passionate about working with young children. Our assistant teachers provide warm, caring environments where children learn and grow while supporting Head teachers.

The mission of the Brunswick School (TBS) is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment, and a holistic education that considers children’s physical, cognitive, social/emotional, language and life-skill development and progress.

Assist in planning and implementing activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of students
Assist in developing culturally appropriate programs and activities
Establish routines and procedures for daily learning/play experiences
Supervision of students in the classroom
Establish routines with head teacher and provide positive guidance for behavioral outcomes
Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
Communicate to parents on an as needed basis about child’s behavior, positive and negative, with approval of Head Teacher
Collaborate regularly with Head Teacher to develop weekly plans and activities
Perform assigned tasks as designated by head teacher/director
Our school is open from 7:30am-6:30pm Monday through Friday.

Assistant Teacher Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare setting
Associates degree in education/related field or CDA (preferred)
Ability to relate positively to young children, parents, and staff
Willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program.
Able to lift 40 lbs. and walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety
Must be willing to work flexible hours
