Do you want to help design the school of the future? Do you believe each child has different learning needs at different times, and each child can and must be personally invested in their own learning? That children should set ambitious goals, aligned to their unique passions and interests, and schools should support them in achieving their personal goals? That strong data systems are required to make this happen? Come join us as we work to revolutionize public education by flexing time, space, and people to increase student outcomes and improve students’ life trajectories.
Intrinsic is a small charter network currently serving 1,100 students. Our Belmont Campus opened in 2013, and has earned a Level 1/1+ Rating (the highest ratings on the Chicago Public Schools School Quality Rating Policy) the past five years. This fall, we opened our Downtown Campus with 9th graders and will eventually serve grades 9-12. We are deeply committed to the postsecondary success of our students and to improving education at scale in our city and beyond.
Since our inception, we have developed an innovative, personalized learning model that is yielding strong student outcomes and is coveted by families. At Intrinsic, personalization and independence is achieved via a holistic, 1:1 application of technology to empower team-teaching in flexible, data-driven classrooms—called “pods”—in which upwards of 60 students engage in a variety of learning modes from independent work, to instruction, to collaboration and project-based learning. As we look to the next five years, we are committed to continuing to iterate, deepen, and improve our learning model to ensure we are supporting all students to achieve their goals.
About the Opportunity
Intrinsic Schools has been nationally recognized for its innovative use of technology and data by students and staff. The Director of Information will collaborate with a highly skilled team and drive strategy and continued innovation of this work. As Intrinsic Schools continues to grow our second campus to scale in 2022, a strong information strategy is crucial to the success of the organization. With technology and data deeply integrated into the model, this opportunity affords meaningful relationships and deep impact on the students, families, and staff in the entire school community. This position reports to the Chief Learning Officer of Intrinsic Schools.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
The Director of Information will lead the information strategy and support data systems across both campuses. The Director of Information will be in charge of the data reporting requirements for Chicago Public Schools, the State of Illinois Board of Education, grant funders, the Intrinsic Schools Board, and other stakeholders in the school community and network.
Intrinsic has an innovative school model where technology and data are deeply woven into the fabric of the student and staff experience. The Director of Information will work closely with the academics team to manage assessments, student information, grades and credits, family communications, and logistics around serving families and students during report card pickup, test administrations, etc.
The Director of Information will support and partner with the Director of Technology, who oversees technology budgets, vendors, network infrastructure, student and staff software, devices, technical support, and new campus technology planning. As the Intrinsic model continues to evolve, new approaches to teaching and learning will mean reviewing new software and helping to make implementation and change management plans.
Data Management and Analysis

The Director of Information will work directly with the Chief Learning Officer to establish priorities and deadlines and ensure accuracy and quality. This includes building a data quality system, designing the next iteration of the Intrinsic data reporting strategy, and ensuring that reports reflect the needs of students and staff. The Director of Information, along with the Tech & Data team, provides training for staff on data reports and analysis.
