Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Tom. If you have read my job descriptions before, you will know that I like to add a little humor to them from time to time....I will be doing that here as well. I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions Inc. About 99% of my time is spent 'customer facing'...that being said, their are no layers between me and any of my clients, and I will be far more interested in 'fit' than anything else...a 'fit' for you and a 'fit' for the client.
This particular client is one of my closest friends...he is the kind of individual that is easy going, but also driven. He is the kind of manager that will never ask you to do the 'impossible'...he understands the limits of Movex and what it can do, and what it can't. On a personal note, he is also the kind of individual that you can learn quite a bit from...I know I have learned quite a bit from him over the years. In short, he is the kind of person that no one ever wants to let down or disappoint...I am sure you will find this out as well as you begin working with him.
This client is using Movex for ERP...I am going to be getting more information as the day progresses, but here is a high level job description of what we are looking for:
This role CAN be done remotely... Ideally, it would be great to have someone in the Chicagoland area that could stop by and see these guys every once in a while... but, that may not be a possibility...so, if you can only work remotely, just let me know.
We are looking for about 10-20 hours a week, but the duration on this could be quite extensive...they have had an individual that is headed toward retirement that has been doing this for them...so, it could go on for quite a while).
We are seeking a Movex developer (Movex sits on an iSeries box). You will be working on tasks on something of an 'as needed' basis. This does NOT mean that you will need to be on standby 24 hours a day...we aren't dealing with Nuclear Weapons or the Zombie Apocalypse (at least not yet)...so, if you need to plan your activities with this client around other work you are doing, that should be just fine...granted, if their is a production emergency or Zombies end up knocking at the door, well - then - we probably will need your help rather urgently.
You will primarily be working on existing code as well as some new development as well. If you have some functional experience to tag team along with your development skills, that would be great, but not absolutely needed.
I am going to be getting more information as the days progress, but you can assume they are on the latest version of Movex and that they are using the following applications within Movex: Resource & Material Planning; Product Data Management; Project Management; Financial Controlling; Manufacturing; Maintenance; and Financial Management. If you do NOT know all the applications within Movex, that is ok...just let me know what you do know.
Here are the main requirements for this role:
1) Experience in Movex development. Let me know what kinds of nifty things you have done with Movex over the years?
2) Experience in the various modules within Movex...if you don't have experience with all of them, just let m know which ones you have experience with.
3) RPG development experience and experience working on the iSeries.
4) Ability to fluently speak Zambian...or Swahili.
