We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Electrical Planning & Project Lead within our Permian EOR group.

The Electrical Planning & Project Lead is responsible for planning and development of projects for Permian EOR’s electrical distribution and transmission system; including the management of engineering and design, standards, and daily project management from purchase power locations through end use points. Also provides new electrical technology solutions that encompass the entire Oxy organization to help make the electrical teams more effective and efficient while also providing benefits to other teams within the organization.

  • Assist in setting goals and long term vision with Electrical Systems Manager
  • Aligns Electrical Planning and Project Engineering Team with goals, standards, surface operational strategies, best practices and ensures execution
  • Interfaces between support functions and Asset Team Leads to establish and manage boundaries
  • Creates an environment where members of the team make the day-to-day decisions while providing the tools, training, and support needed to make those decisions.
  • Deliver on production, project costs, safety & environmental targets for Asset Team
  • Ensure execution of business plan
  • Coach and mentor team members, assist with performance management and career development through rotational assignments, projects, and training
  • Accountability for Electrical planning, standards, and projects Engineering
  • Provide a customer support mentality for Electrical Operations and Maintenance Engineering and Projects teams
  • Consult Asset teams on engineering technology availability while achieving standards through the Electrical Standards Committee
  • Ensure that Team Goals are aligned with Asset teams for each area
  • Ensure adequate technical expertise to support Asset Teams
  • Manage Team truck fleet of Direct reports
  • Responsible for hiring and onboarding of new employees
  • Support field and plants on projects
  • Provides guidance on setting, implementing and changing standards around Electrical equipment and processes
  • Responsible for documenting Standards and 5 year Electrical Plans

  • BS Degree in electrical engineering
Professional/Technical Knowledge:
  • Must be knowledgeable of electrical safety requirements as found in publications such as NFPA 70E
  • Must have knowledge of Arc Flash Hazards
  • Knowledge of power engineering, distribution system design and construction, engineering economics and statistics, feasibility and power factor correction studies, load flow and motor starting studies, system reliability analysis, symmetrical components, voltage regulation, transformer sizing and analysis and over-current coordination principals and sectionalizing devices to include relays, breakers, sectionalizers, reclosers, and fuses, transmission system protection and control, substation design and construction principles
  • NEC,NESC and OSHA standards
Professional / Technical Qualifications/Licences/Certifications:
  • Professional Engineering Certificate preferred
  • Experience in Electric Distribution Systems
  • Candidates should have 10 years’ experience in electrical distribution and facility operations
Skills & Competencies:
  • In depth experience with electrical facility construction standards and design
  • Valued contributor to business analysis and planning at all levels
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation)
  • Problem solving skills with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on problems of high complexity
  • Understanding of Surface Operational Strategies and Planning
  • General knowledge of Asset Team, Risk / AI team, IT and HES and Automation
  • Expert level competency in electrical systems standards
  • Visionary for process improvement and development of new technologies
  • Ability to complete staffing plans to ensure adequate staffing levels to support the business plan
  • Ability to develop team professional and technical skills though coaching, feedback, training and development
