New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Division of Mental Hygiene seeks one (1) full-time Co-Response Program Director for the Bureau of Health Promotion of Justice Impacted Populations with primary responsibilities overseeing the Co-Response Program.
The Co-Response Program Director, reporting directly to the Executive Director is primarily responsible for day-to-day operations of Co-Response. To do so the Director will:
- Provide field-based clinical observations for supervisors and ongoing coaching.
- Coordinates team clinical rounds.
- Work closely with operations and oversee the recruitment and interview process for all CRT lines.
- Work closely with operations to address all unit operational and procurement needs.
- Coordinate/consult with on-site NYPD management and staff to support daily operations, deployments, support days and car assignments.
- Responsible for developing and coordinating all shift schedules and adequate planning to ensure all shifts are adequately staffed.
- Approval of trainings, presentation requests, and all other requests for matters outside of work-related purposes.
- Approval process for time and leave and overtime usage, including - approval codes, mandated & voluntary OT needs.
- Oversee and monitor petty cash usage/develop usage protocols based on DOHMH standards.
- Work in collaboration with monitoring and Evaluation to ensure proper data collection.
- Oversee QA process for CRT operations and workflows.
- Plan and implement corrective action activities to improve program operations.
- Be readily accessible to program supervisors and staff to ensure the most appropriate response to emergency and crisis situations.
- Oversee daily organizational and weekly review meetings.
- Troubleshoot any challenges, issues or concerns that might arise and escalate issues to management as necessary.
- Provide sound clinical direction to staff, leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain collaborate relationship and communication with NYPD, HEAT Director, Triage Director, and all other Unit Leadership.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and five years of full-time professional satisfactory experience acquired within the last fifteen years, in a health services setting such as a laboratory, hospital, or other patient care facility, or in a public health, environmental health, or mental hygiene program, at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial capacity, consisting of managerial experience clearly demonstrating the ability to perform difficult and responsible managerial work, requiring independent decision-making concerning program management, planning, allocation of resources, and the scheduling and assignment of work.
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that each 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college in hospital administration, public health, public administration, business administration, management or administration can be substituted for one year of non-managerial experience up to a maximum of 60 semester credits for two years. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and 18 months of managerial experience as described in "1" above.
- Licensed NYS LCSW
- 3 years clinical supervision experience with highly vulnerable populations, particularly the homeless and people with health, mental health, and substance abuse issues
- Strong understanding of the intersection of NYC’s criminal justice and behavioral health systems Demonstrated knowledge and experience with best practices around violence risk identification and management, engagement of hard to reach clients, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care and, non-violent crisis intervention techniques
- Significant provider experience in behavioral health treatment and/or services. Research experience and strong written, oral, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Highly-developed management, analytical, and motivational skills
- Proven track record building cohesive and productive teams; ability to work effectively with diverse team and remain highly organized
- Proficient in computers, including Microsoft suite
- Creative problem-solver who enjoys working in fast-paced environment, is highly motivated and ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks
