Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.
Wells Fargo Securities maintains a Quantitative Trading Desk that serves the needs of quantitative customers executing US listed equities in a low-latency or high-throughput capacity. Our Quantitative Trading Desk supports the full lifecycle of quantitative trading customers including customer consultation, onboarding and implementation, daily order/trade support, and assistance in customer platform design. This team works closely with other business units and also facilitates market access for internal bank constituents requiring low latency order routing solutions.
Responsibilities for the role span the following areas:
Customer Consultation and Onboarding
Acting as primary customer contact for prospects and customers, providing information about market best practices, methods of integration with the Wells Fargo Quantitative Trading Desk, and supporting the customer acquisition process as a subject matter expert.
Collect customer and prospect requests and feedback, and leverage those to improve system design and ensure constant improvement of system performance based on customer feedback.
Onboarding and Implementation
Provide expert-level assistance to new customers, assisting with multi-protocol integration including both FIX and exchange-native protocols (i.e. OUCH). Provide guidance as to functional differences between various protocols and determine optimal connectivity methods for new clients.
Maintain customer Rules of Engagement, including both formal specification documents as well as customer limit definitions.
Assist and maintain oversight for customer connectivity including managing IT implementation of cross-connects for local customers or remote connectivity for proximity-hosted clients.
Monitor system health on an ongoing basis, leveraging internal monitoring tools and alerts to ensure optimal platform uptime.
Act as primary point of contact for incoming customer queries regarding specific orders sent and/or trades executed.
Monitor latency measurement platforms (i.e. Corvil) to ensure maximum system health during peak load times.
Responsible for coordination with other business units to produce daily/weekly/monthly reporting of volume, routes leveraged, fill rates, execution charges, etc. Liaise with middle and back office to produce and deliver monthly invoices and other customer-facing reporting metrics.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
3-5 years of applicable experience on an electronic/algorithmic trading desk in direct support of US trading customers.
Working knowledge of technical trading protocols including FIX, FIXml, OUCH, and other industry-standard order routing protocols.
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field including Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or associated subject areas.
Market Structure knowledge of US Capital Markets including a full understanding of Reg ATS, NMS, SCI, and other regulatory regimes affecting the trading of US listed equities.
Strong technical knowledge of computer operations including both Windows and Linux environments, and limited programming experience across scripting languages or functional programming languages (i.e. Python, VB, etc.)
Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing, UDP multicast, latency measurements, and packet capture application.

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
5+ years of experience in capital markets, industry experience within the specific sector of the position, or a combination of both
A BS/BA degree or higher
3+ years of securities markets or trading experience
Successfully completed FINRA Series 7 and 63 (or 66) exams to qualify for immediate registration (or FINRA recognized equivalents)
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of algorithmic trading, risk trading, ETF trading, and program trading
Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills
Quantitative or qualitative data analysis experience
BS/BA in computer science, applied statistics, quantitative economics, operations research or a related field
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
