Job Description for Maintenance Manager in a Linen and Garment Rental Service Company
Position Summary: This is an exempt, experienced-level position that supports all departments by ensuring the maintenance and security of all equipment, buildings, and the company fleet. This position leads the Preventative Maintenance program and is responsible for the maintenance database system. Reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain all laundry and facility equipment in optimal condition, aiming for a "like-new" standard.
- Implement and lead a robust Preventive Maintenance program that minimizes downtime and extends the life of equipment.
- Regularly inspect buildings and grounds for defects, scheduling timely repairs or improvements to ensure operational excellence.
- Fleet Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance of the company’s diesel box trucks and step vans.
- Manage the scheduling of inspections, servicing, and any necessary repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle conditions, managing fleet-related expenses and documentation.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Hire, train, discipline, and lead a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring high levels of team performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Supervise critical start/stop operations, such as boiler pumps, air compressors, and electrical motors.
- Maintain an inventory of necessary parts, tools, and supplies.
- Operational Efficiency and Security:
- Coordinate the security measures for buildings and equipment.
- Manage and optimize utility usage and costs across all operations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on the maintenance database, ensuring all maintenance activities are tracked and optimized.
- Safety, Compliance, and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Regularly report on maintenance activities and their impact on the business to senior management.
- Stay informed of technological advancements and regulatory changes that could affect maintenance operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong mechanical skills, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Strong industrial or manufacturing maintenance skills, including electrical
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literacy and experience with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- High School Diploma required, with a Vocational School Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
- Specific certifications like a Boiler Operator License are desired.
- Extensive experience in industrial or fleet maintenance management.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- The job operates in both indoor and outdoor settings, subject to extreme temperatures.
- Requires manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks daily.
