Job Description:
Provides outreach to unserved/underserved communities in Inyo and Mono Counties. Provides crisis intervention services to clients who have been affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. May work from home if scheduled outside of normal office hours. This is a mandated reporting position. Reports to DV/SA Programs Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.
- High School diploma or equivalency.
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Required to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and overnight travel.
- Ability to use a computer; proficiency with Office 365 and willing to learn industry specific software.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in both individual and team settings.
- Knowledge of professional office practices including proper conduct and dress.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and deal appropriately with crisis and stress situations.
- Ability to work with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socio-economic, sexual, and political orientations.
- Willing to undergo to a live scan background check.
Preferred:
- Educational/professional background in public education, public health, prevention, social services, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience with a similar agency and/or working with unserved and underserved populations.
- Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Counselor certification pursuant to California Evidence Code, Article 8.7, Section 1037.1
Essential Job Duties:
- This position is primarily responsible for organizing and facilitating regularly scheduled events and presentations open to the public and provided in community settings in outlying areas, and for providing outreach and direct client services to outlying areas, under-served populations, and Spanish-speaking communities in Inyo and Mono Counties.
- Provide additional community support groups, educational presentations, and outreach events in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes in collaboration with the Support Group Advocate.
- Provide closed Spanish-language support groups and psychoeducational classes at Transitional Housing campus for Transitional Housing residents in collaboration with Housing Advocates.
- Implement evidence-based curricula for school and/or youth-focused violence prevention programming, presentations, support groups, and other youth activities in collaboration with the Youth Advocate.
- Respond to walk in clients/hotline calls needing immediate assistance with issues relating to domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Provide crisis intervention services for persons directly or indirectly experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Respond to hospital and law enforcement calls to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Provide Emergency Protective Order (EPO) and Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) assistance in Inyo and Mono Counties.
- Work after-hours shifts on 24-hour crisis line.
- Collaborate with referral agencies, especially those that provide services to underserved populations, provide professional training.
- Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Counselor certified pursuant to California Evidence Code, Article 8.7, Section 1037.1; participate in ongoing training to maintain certification.
- Provide culturally sensitive services and work with representatives of underserved communities; provide bilingual services to Spanish-speaking clients and community partners.
- Provide Safe Haven services and other emergency support to survivors.
- Maintain accurate client records, documentation, data collection, and completion of reports and forms as outlined in grant requirements and Agency policy.
- Provide office coverage as needed in offices in Inyo and Mono Counties.
- Adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the agency including representing the agency in a professional manner and maintaining the highest standard of confidentiality.
- Work independently and as a member of the Wild Iris team.
- Make mandated reports of child, dependent adult, and elderly abuse or neglect per California Penal Code Section 11165.7
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: $22.50 - $28.74 per hour
