Brinton Woods Post Acute Care Center, a long term care nursing facility, located in Northeast Baltimore City, is seeking a dynamic Staff Development/Educator to join our management team.
Reporting to the facility Administrator, the primary purpose of this position is to ensure that employees receive compliance training and education necessary to perform their job responsibilities for the nursing department and other departments as requested. This position also oversees the employee health program and ensures compliance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Plans, organizes, and implements ongoing education and training programs for licensed nurses, nursing assistants, unit clerks, and other ancillary personnel to promote the knowledge and skills necessary for their individual job functions.
Plans, organizes, and implements education training programs to meet the facility goals.
Conducts specialized training for staff as a result of survey history, individual performance, competency evaluation, center performance improvement trends.
Ensures the facility educational curriculum meets or exceeds Maryland state and federal requirements.
Develops and maintains monthly and annual education calendars.
Ensures educational opportunities are effectively communicated to center personnel.
Provides clinical and classroom hands-on instruction, and on the job coaching to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Coordinates and/or conducts CPR training for licensed personnel and applicable non-licensed personnel.
Collaborates with other staff, within the nursing service and other departments, to provide educational programs and experiences.
Utilizes both internal and community resources in meeting staff development needs.
Ensures staff education and skills through yearly in servicing and/or orientation regarding patient care procedures and equipment.
Ensures that documentation for all training and education is completed and maintained in accordance with facility, state and federal requirements.
Recommends staff development programs as necessary based on new clinical, facility programs.
Facilitates the orientation program for all facility personnel in conjunction with the Human Resource department.
The successful candidate will have:
RN, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare, with at least 3 years in long term care.
Must have worked as a trainer for at least one year.
Must have the ability to multi-task and manage the entire staff developer function within a large facility.
Must be computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office applications and have the ability to learn other software products necessary for the position.
The ability to work independently, have excellent customer service skills and be able to work well with the interdisciplinary team to obtain the best outcomes for the residents as possible.
