Title: Senior Accountant
Reports To: Director, Finance
Location: Administrative Office
Position Status:Full Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000
The Senior Accountant works closely with the other members of the finance team to ensure all accounting and fiscal practices are carried out in a timely and accurate manger. The agency is supported primary by government contracts and private foundations which have varying reporting mechanisms, invoicing processes and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant will assist in fiscal grant management and is also responsible for managing the general ledger, monthly closing process, and all other related functions. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance
Prepare and review city and state vouchers, funders reports and program budgets.
Allocate and track expenses to contracts ensuring expenditures are approved and accounted for.
Prepare budget to actual reports for the grants and contracts to review with senior program staff.
Oversee banking matters including the daily positive pay exceptions, wire transfers, and cash balance report
Analyze the monthly revenue into the general ledger from the various respective billing systems
Reconcile accounts receivable to respective subsidiary ledgers and aging, review collectability of receivables and offer suggestions related to possible allowance reserves to executive management
Reconcile and ensure appropriate recording of expenditures related to multiple service projects.
Audit Petty Cash and Metro Card requests
Ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed as per organizational policy and procedure manuals
Other special projects assigned by the Finance Department

Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance related field with accounting coursework.
3+ years of experience in roles with increasing responsibility
Not For Profit Accounting experience preferred, but not required
Must be able to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and a continually heavy work load
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
Experience with Netsuite general ledger system preferred, but not required
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
This position will be evaluated based on the incumbent’s ability to prioritize, time management skills and flexibility. In addition, the incumbent’s performance will be measured and evaluated according to the standardized tool used for all employees providing service to internal and external customers and incorporating CHASI’s Core Values.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
