This position functions within the EHS Group and is responsible for some 11 North America UG operating locations and several small warehouse and administrative locations with approximately 2,100 employees. Frequent travel to operations locations is required in performing tasks. Position is one of high visibility among corporate and site managers, employees and union representatives. Solid management/employee relations skills are a key element along with the ability to interface with all levels of corporate and site management.
Lead the implementation and refinement of EHS initiatives, best practices and policies to ensure safe working conditions and sound environmental practices.
Communicate, partner and discuss with North America UG Operations management performance objectives and compliance issues as needed.
Drive continuous improvement of the EHS performance for the North America UG Operations.
Guide North America UG Operation facility environmental compliance, pollution prevention and waste minimization efforts in reducing the overall cost in facility waste management.
Direct North America UG Operation in achieving overall facility EHS compliance and place focus on moving beyond compliance.
Education / Qualification
B.S. Degree in Safety, Environmental Management or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of North America UG EHS regulations (EPA, Safety, Health)
Knowledge of Regional Workers’ Compensation Laws.
15 + year of EHS experience in heavy industrial and manufacturing sectors.
Broad knowledge of hazardous materials and emergency response organization.
Extensive background in development and delivering EHS training to facility management/employees.
Excellent leadership, program and project management and communication skills.
