Full Job Description
Assumes responsibility for directing and managing Specialty Clinic and Outpatient Services. Evaluates operations, programs, processes, practices for quality, efficiency and effectiveness and offers recommendations for improvement. Recommends, advocates and/or implements, changes to existing policies and procedures, laws and regulations. Acts as a resource to team members and provides input as to needs of the department/facility. Participates in professional meetings, hospital wide decision-making, development of new/expanded services for the organization and strategic planning. Assists with reporting of Quality Improvement on a bi-annual basis. Liaison between physicians, management, staff, and anesthesia to recommend and/or implement necessary action to ensure efficient delivery of services. Participates in networking with medical facilities and governmental organizations to keep abreast of latest changes/updates. Offers educational needs of staff members and coordinates educational effort with managers/supervisors, when appropriate. Responsible for reporting and following annual budgets and statistics from assigned department's. Responsible for monthly physician billing of clinic rent and staffing. Assists with recruitment of new physician's and credentialing. Assists in the retainment of physicians by providing information or determining the most effective way to meet the needs of the physicians.
Acts as a resource to team members. Selects, supervises, and develops department supervisors to manage departments and services responsibly, ensuring evaluations, disciplinary actions and/or terminations are completed per hospital policy, for areas of responsibility.
Ensures that state and federal licensure and regulatory requirements and policies, i.e. CAH, as well as voluntary accreditation requirements, such as DNV, are satisfied for areas of responsibility.
Monitors Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and Job Hazard Analysis programs for effectiveness. Facilitates education of it and encourages all staff to contribute/participate. Develops and implements strategy/goals to expand Outpatient Services to recruit physicians as appropriate.
Maintains ongoing communication with Executive Director of Patient Services, keeping him/her informed of services, perceptions, programs and relationships associated with areas of responsibility.
Facilitates and promotes physician/hospital relations through effective communication, problem solving, and timely responses that results in improved medical staff perceptions of service, increased volume, and/or expanded services for the hospital.
Participates in the ERMC administrative call as assigned. Contributes to the overall management decision-making process.
Demonstrates good customer service skills in dealing with physicians, staff, peers, and public/customers.
Develops and implements strategy/goals within the department to develop/expand services and volume.
Responsible for budgeting and reporting Specialty Clinic and Outpatient Services to maximize efficiency while ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and currently licensed to practice in the state. Bachelor's degree preferred. Must have current BCLS certification. ACLS certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire. Previous experience as a manager of a busy Clinical or outpatient department preferred. Previous experience with outpatient services coordination and development preferred. Endoscopy experience preferred. Infusion experience preferred.
