ELL Summer Enrichment:
ESL Teacher Gr. 5-8
Description of Services:
The ESL teacher will teach English Learners in grades 5-8 in the ELL Summer Enrichment Program at Upper School. The teacher will instruct students using the ESL curriculum using the Making Meaning Curriculum, ESL Summer Curriculum, and the WIDA Standard for ELLs. Lessons will be planned using appropriate English language development pedagogy and sheltered immersion methodology. The teacher will plan and teach lessons using the S.I.O.P. Model of instruction and implement appropriate strategies for ELLs and/or student with special learning needs.
June 29, 2020 - July 31, 2020
The teacher will work 7.5 hours/day at the rate of $35.00 per hour for 5 weeks.
Contract may not exceed $6,562.50.
- Teacher Certification in ESL
- The SEI teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching ELLs, English languages learning and Sheltered Immersion methodology. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues, demonstrate high expectations for English language learners, be effective in working with immigrant families, and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in teaching ELLs in grades 5-12
At least 2 years experience teaching ESL to linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.
Proficiency in English and fluency in a language other than English is preferred, but not required.
Start and End Date:
$35.00 per hour not to exceed $6,562.50
