Business Development Lead (Civil - Structural Engineering)

Primary Responsiblities

The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) is expected to be a strong promoter of McClure Engineering Company’s (MEC) core values, vision, and mission and embody those values in all interactions with clients and team members. The position responsibilities will include coordinated selling of a project or services, developing new business relationships and making significant commitments to clients.

The BDC is responsible for meeting our corporate initiatives of “drive client satisfaction and better serve our clients”

  • Work closely and aligned with MEC Leadership and PMs to ensure he/she is:
  • Informed of client needs and current projects
  • Implements sales strategies to create partnerships and business relationships to win new clients and projects
  • Builds a robust pipeline of quality and actionable opportunities
  • Attends relevant conferences and meetings, assists in developing messaging and, stays current of public and private industry trends
  • Provides input on business development strategy and proposal process
  • Commitment to constantly improving communication across MEC
  • Strong ability to guide technical team members to build and grow successful client relationships

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The BDC must possess relationship skills required to build rapport with MEC Leadership, teams, and clients across all business groups and geographic area. The BDC must also possess the soft skills needed to assess the client’s needs and able to work with business delivery teams and project managers to link those client needs to new MEC project and service opportunities.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Ability to represent MEC as the client liaison on specific projects
  • Proven ability to coordinate with MEC Leadership and PMs to maintain existing client relationships and develop new clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team focused, self-starter, and relationship builder
  • Collaborative across business areas enabling business growth opportunities
  • Proven ability to connect with clients, MEC team members, and industry partners on developing sales opportunities
  • Proven experience in transferring important technical information to clients and MEC project delivery teams in clear, concise and simple terms
