The Job
Organize, and deliver heath, technology, social and exercise classes to older adults and family caregivers in person, via telephone, and through video conferencing platforms. Works with a team to develop and implement successful programs and projects to support the health and independence of older adults and their caregivers living in our service areas. Represents IAH at various community involvement functions to create and maintain relationships to foster health and wellness of older adults and their caregivers.
You Will
Outreach, develop and cultivate relationships with community agencies, senior apartment buildings and senior serving sites in the communities IAH serves to increase scheduling and offering of 20+ classes per month as well as increasing visibility of other IAH support programs.
Lead Trading Ages training targeting older adult senior serving professionals (case managers, social workers, nurses, senior center staff, government workers, and other professionals who may interact with older adults)
Build and maintain positive productive relationships with community partner organizations for scheduling in person and online classes.
Schedule and maintain calendar of classes and programs for community at large marketing and outreach.
Support community outreach and social media efforts to reach a broader audience and increase older adult engagement and participation in classes and programs.
Implement, administer and teach IAH developed older adult classes, evidence based programming, exercise classes, and activities targeting older adults. Classes include a variety of topics on health, social activities, and technology.
Work with Manager and Health Promotion Representative staff evaluate and update curriculum on an
ongoing basis and according to changes in the landscape and senior participant needs.
Responsible for data entry and reporting results associated with scheduled classes, programming, and community involvement activities.
Actively support the achievement of SCAN and IAH’s Vision and Goals.
Adhere to all quality, compliance and regulatory standards to achieve IAH and SCAN outcomes.
Your Qualifications
Preferred, but not required: Bachelor's Degree; Gerontology, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Social Work, or related field, preferred
A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed
BILINGUAL- Must be bilingual in English/Spanish. (Test will be administered to assess proficiency.)
Travel 50+% of the time in the assigned area (Inland Empire & surrounding areas as needed) - Must have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation.
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), preferred but not required
1-3 years of experience in community outreach or nonprofit programs involving older adults and/or caregivers.
Experience teaching, coaching, or tutoring adult learners.
Strong problem solving skills.
Participatory style, high energy, & a bias for action.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be comfortable using laptop computer and LCD projector.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office, video conferencing and technical problem-solving skills.
Ability to comply with record-keeping protocols.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to creatively deliver training materials in an in-person and online setting and have strong presentation skills to effectively address diverse audiences.
