Looking for Phoenix AZ based, Part Time Pathologist and Lab Director for a growing CLIA lab. Flexible hours available between 8-5.

The pathologist is responsible for evaluating H&E and immunohistochemical (IHC) testing for the paradigm test(s), pharmaceutical contract projects and International Genomics Consortium (IGC) biobanking projects, as applicable. The pathologist will also participate in the sign out of Paradigm Cancer Diagnostic (PCDx) tests for the Pathology sections. The PCDx encompasses two key functions. The first is to confirm the diagnosis on an H&E slide and the second to review and score IHC patient testing. The pathologist may also develop and assist reading IHCs for researcher purposes.

As Lab Director, this individual shall remain responsible and must ensure that all the duties as outlined in the SOP for the Laboratory Director are properly performed and applicable CLIA and other regulatory agencies are met. It shall be the responsibility of the Laboratory Director to ensure that the laboratory develops and uses a quality system approach to laboratory testing that provides accurate and reliable patient test results.

Requires the ability to work independently and makes decisions, speak clearly, read and write in English, manual dexterity, bend, reach, sit for long periods, ability to coordinate information and activities, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, perform mathematical calculations, ability to function in a fast paced environment, meet critical deadlines, customer service oriented, and projects a positive interaction with outside agencies.

Requirements:

  • Licensed MD, DO, DPM or DMD and Certified in anatomic, clinical or oral pathology, or Board eligible or Certified or eligible for certification by a national accreditation board related to a laboratory specialty or 2 years directing or supervising high complexity testing or prior to February 28, 1992, qualified under State law to direct a laboratory in the state a lab is located AND
  • Directed a clinical lab 12 months within 5 years prior to January 1, 1970, and 2 years pertinent lab experience OR
  • Prior to February 28, 1992, qualified as a clinical Laboratory Director under federal regulations (42 CFR493.1406)
