Public notice is hereby given by the Civil Service Commission of Cleveland, Ohio, of an open competitive examination for the above classification.

SALARY: The prevailing salary for this position as established by Ordinance of the Council of the City of Cleveland is $17.33 - $22.94 per Hour.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION

WRITTEN TEST: 100% of Final Grade.
TYPING TEST: This portion is Pass Fail. Applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of the examinations via email.

NOTE: CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO TYPE 35 WPM (Gross words per minute minus errors). FAILURE TO OBTAIN 35 WPM MEANS THAT THE CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE A FINAL GRADE OF ZERO

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Under supervision, monitors and operates multi-channel radios, telephones, and/or Closed Circuit Television Systems. Answers incoming telephone calls for service, eliciting pertinent information to writes work orders. Coordinates and dispatches work orders to the proper personnel. Maintains close contact with field personnel, assesses information, and provides updates and assistance as needed. Provides information to callers and contacts other additional units and/or outside agencies if necessary. Maintains accurate documentation and records of work orders and the work dispatched. May update account information on the billing system, perform paging of public announcements, or manage the lost and found process. Performs other job-related duties as required. Follows all operations and safety policies and safe work practices. Attends and participates in operations and safety training classes and demonstrates competence (demonstration of competence may be determined by exam.) Wears and properly utilizes safety equipment in accordance with Divisional policy at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Three years of full time paid experience within the City of Cleveland's Water Distribution and Maintenance field units and/or Customer Account Services section is required. Must display good communication skills and have a good understanding of Distribution and Maintenance operations (inclusive of roll maps). Must be able to work with the public in adverse situations and display the ability to use problem-solving techniques/initiatives on a continuous basis. Must be able to accurately type 35 words per minute. Experience with the Division of Water's billing system and proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
VETERANS' PREFERENCE

Veterans' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214, must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing application for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination.

THE COMMISSION WILL NOT ENTERTAIN APPEALS FOR VETERANS' PREFERENCE CREDIT AFTER THE APPLICANT HAS FILED HIS/HER APPLICATION. THE DECISION OF THE COMMISSION IS FINAL.
