Provides direct and indirect patient care and follow-up in support of and under the direction of the Providers (Physicians and Extenders).
Principal Duties and Required Skills
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. The duties will be performed in accordance to policy and procedure.
Triage patients to obtain vitals, chief complaint and past medical history and enter into electronic medical record.
Protect patient rights by maintaining confidentiality in accordance with clinic policy and HIPAA requirements.
Phlebotomy and use of lab equipment per company protocols.
Administer injections and medications according to protocols.
Perform X-rays in accordance with clinic policy (can only be performed by RT in South Carolina).
Perform a variety of clinical tests, including electrocardiogram, pulmonary function test, urine drug screens, breath alcohol tests and audiograms according to clinical and federal guidelines.
PPD Placement and reading.
Set up for procedures for physicians/extenders.
Perform laboratory testing per physician/extender orders.
Complete physician/extender discharge orders.
Coordinate patient and/or workers compensation referrals per company protocols.
IV placement and wound care.
Performs quality control per facility protocol on x-ray and lab equipment.
Utilize personal protective equipment and dispose of hazardous/biological waste according to OSHA guidelines.
Ensure proper charting and documentation are entered in patient’s medical records.
Monitor outside labs/referrals for completion. Contact all patients with both negative and/or positive results.
Scan inventory in/out. Notify manager of inadequate supply amounts.
Properly expose of expired medications.
Clean and stock patient exam room.
Follow all policies and procedures including policies on safety and security.
Check company email at start of each shift.
Complete monthly and specialty compliance training as assigned.
Attend department and/or staff meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to calculate medical dosages.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret test results.
Efficient will Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.), Efficient with database reporting tools and Internet databases, i.e. PACS, Salesforce or similar. Inventory Software: Gigatrak software and scanner or similar. Medical Billing/Record software: Docutap, Cerner, Financials or similar. Education/Experience Requirements
Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of Clinical Staff experience preferably in a clinical/health care environment.
Specialized Training: Phlebotomy/IV skills preferred; DOT/BAT certification preferred; Audiogram certification preferred.
Certificates/Licenses: CPR, First Aid, Basic Life Support Certification and one of the following: Medical Assistant Certification/Diploma, LPN License, RT License or Certified EMT or Paramedic.
