Bridge Engineer – Norcross, GA
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, PLLC (ICE) is one of the fastest growing full-service transportation consulting and design firms in the Eastern US. We specialize in highways, bridges/structures, hydrology, and aviation design utilizing over 200 dedicated team members that take a results-driven approach to meeting the specific needs of our clients. We are currently looking to add qualified Bridge Engineers to our Norcross, GA Team.
Position Summary This position is responsible for analyzing and designing structural components for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation related structural systems. Job duties include structural design utilizing AASHTO and other applicable design specifications as well as state and local design requirements. Job duties also include seismic design, load ratings, QA/QC, review and approval of construction submittals and communication with clients and sub-contractors.
Develop effective designs, details, sketches, drawings, and specifications, that could include any or all of the following: steel box girders, steel trusses, pre-stressed concrete structures, post-stressed concrete girders, retaining walls, noise walls, post-tensioned bridges as appropriate, to facilitate overall project development and construction.
Coordinate with project team, contractors, vendors and other consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design requirements.
Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Specifications, AASHTO Standard Specifications, AREMA Specifications, and state-specific design criteria/specifications.
Provide internal quality control for construction drawings, design calculations and specifications to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructability.
Work with the Project Management to ensure projects are completed on schedule and under budget. Must be able to independently manage project tasks.
Maintain organized documentation/archives of design files, drawings, and construction submittals.
Proactively communicate with clients, environmental agencies and federal entities on the implications of the construction.
Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI’s) as necessary.
Education and Experience Requirements
Masters Degree in Structural Engineering, PE desired. BS Degree in Civil Engineering required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the design of transportation related structures.
Strong computer skills including MS Office suite and Microstation. Familiarity with LEAP Bridge, CSI Bridge, and/or other commonly used structural design software packages is preferred.
Experience with GDOT Bridge Design Software/Drawing Programs a plus.
Additional software experience ideal: WinSEISAB, STAAD, CSI Bridge/SAP or other finite element software, PCA Column, MathCad, FB Multi-Pier, InRoads, RetainPro, SupportIT
Knowledgeable in job cost, scheduling, safety, and construction concepts.
