A. JOB SUMMARY:
To support and maintain computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware, software and other peripheral equipment ensuring optimal computer performance. Also accurately troubleshoot problem areas in a timely fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required for the Digital Connection Program.
B. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses malfunctions of hardware for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
Inspects computer and network equipment for the purpose of identifying and verifying repair needs.
Conducts a variety of diagnostic tests on computers and peripheral equipment to determine repairs needed.
Ensures all agency data is cleaned from hard drives.
Attends meeting as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
Dismantles, repairs and upgrades computers and peripheral equipment, if possible, to a condition for loading of academic and Microsoft Office software.
Collection of computer donations for repair and distribution in the Digital Connection Program.
Places orders for components, parts, tools, equipment, and supplies needed for quality refurbishing of retired computers.
Tracks inventory of computers, peripheral equipment, and parts retired from CEOGC offices and delivered to Digital Connection repair shop.
Follows agency and departmental procedures for the safekeeping and security of equipment under repair.
Respond to requests for distribution of refurbished and software loaded Computers and release computers to eligible customers
Prepares reports and other documentation for verification of program outcomes and asset control.
Installs and tests operating systems, and software programs functionality before releasing product customers.
Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.
Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Setting up computer security measures
Operates panel van to pick up or deliver computers and peripheral equipment if necessary.
Moves computer equipment and peripheral equipment if necessary.
Offering technical support onsite as needed
Makes recommendations for software purchases that are compatible with hardware and operating systems of repaired computers.
Other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of community services department programs.
C. REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate Degree/Technical Training in PC repair
2. Bachelors Degree in IT (focused on repair and transitions) or A+ Certification is preferred.
3. Two to four years related experience (demonstrated knowledge by verification)
4. Extensive knowledge of Windowsä Operating Systems
5. Demonstrated advance skill in troubleshooting and repairing standalone PCs
6. Must be able to work alone and unaided to repair and upgrade PCs and peripherals
7. Must be able to handle significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching.
8. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License
9. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds
