Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under administrative direction of the Senior Assistant Chief Counsel, this position provides technical advice and legal policy determinations on legal matters relating to transportation. In the absence of the Senior Assistant Chief Counsel, may be assigned the duties of that position. Provides consultation for complex legal problems, including legislation, litigation, contractual and statutory matters, administrative and regulatory functions, employment and labor relations, and other matters affecting the management of the department. Directly advises department employees with principal policymaking duties.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college; requires graduation from a recognized law school; requires a license to practice law in the state of Illinois; requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the general practice of law.
