NVE, Inc. provides Program Management, Administrative Services, Engineering, Facilities Management, and Security services to a range of Federal and local agencies including the US Department of State, US Agency for International Development (USAID), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), US Army, General Services Administration (GSA), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), US Geological Survey (USGS), Department of Commerce, and Virginia Railway Express (VRE).
The Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for general oversight as well as the safe and efficient execution of all maintenance activities within the department (or region of assignment). This position is responsible for assigning resources, site employee management, contract compliance and customer satisfaction. The position is also responsible for employee development and retention for assigned accounts.
The Director of Facilities Operations will also be responsible for site budget compliance and spending, as well as ensuring all staff are compliant with company policies.
As a member of the management team, this position will actively participate in strategic and tactical functions related to reliability of client facilities, profitability, business development and industry leading standards. General responsibilities include: • Provides subject matter expertise support to the Business Development Department, including attendance to job walks, development of staffing plans, costing, and level of effort buildup:
Manages or assists in the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of bids, contracts, and/or agreements for commodities, services, or operations & maintenance contracts.
Participates in the development, implementation, or interpretation of new or revised program, departmental, or legislative initiatives.
Provides quality assurance oversight over operations & maintenance contracts within the department.
Oversees the administration of multiple contracts for the operation and maintenance of buildings.
Directs or assists in the overall planning, development, and administration of an assigned facilities management program; assists in directing the development and implementation of departmental planning issues.
Administers or assists in the administration of new construction, remodeling, and maintenance repair projects in support of existing contracts; ensures designs addresses client needs; and monitors project priorities and deadlines.
Prepares or assists in the preparation, review, and management of the annual budget; justifies expenditures; and analyzes operating expenses and other issues essential to the operation of operations & maintenance contracts.
Selects, trains, directs, and evaluates staff.
Develop processes and procedures and standards for operational performance areas
Reviews and/or revises programs to ensure compliance of operations with laws, regulations, policies, plans, and procedures.
Participates in conferences, training sessions, and meetings, as needed.
Represents and/or serves as a liaison for the assigned area of responsibility; addresses, maintains contact, and cooperates with federal, state, local, and other interested groups pertaining to the assigned programs.

Able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, technical materials, and manufacturers manuals
Knowledge of the following trades/skills: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
Working knowledge of hand tools, electrical and power tools, meters and gauges
Qualifications for the position include
Bachelor’s Degree required
Ten or more years’ multi-site experience in technical operations management in facility management systems and/or service industry to include working, coordinating, supervising, and planning mechanical/electrical maintenance functions preferred.
Five to eight years of management experience in a related field.
Licensure in one or more trades preferred, but not required. • EPA & HVAC certification preferred, but not required
