TITLE: Food Service Training Specialist

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: The individual selected for this position will have a “Passion for Food” and will be responsible for training team members to effectively implement the convenience store Food Service merchandising and sales plans. Position will have dotted-line responsibility with Operations for overall execution and profitability of Food Service P&L lines (labor, supplies, margin, shrink, etc.).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in development, monitoring and adjustment to Food Service strategy
Monthly reporting on Food Service performance, execution and issue remediation plan
Work with District and Store Managers on Food Service execution
Focus on Food Service execution and rollout out Food Service programs in extended and basic grab & go stores
Routinely perform competitive pricing and offering surveys
Conduct store visits to monitor category performance and recommend adjustments based on findings
Assist Director of Food Service in the development of recipe/procedures, new product testing, rollout guides, training materials, and implementation plans for new products or programs
Assist in development, maintenance and implementation of plan-o-grams by hot bar layout and display units
Assist store manager with onboarding, training, etc.as it pertains to Food Service
Implementation of in-store freshness coding policy of product to ensure customer satisfaction
Train/assist store management in order writing to achieve the desired sales, margin, product mix and display presentation
Assist stores with inventory process monthly, from organization and product counts, margin calculations and accounting/office communication and follow-up
Train store management with equipment cleaning and sanitizing methods
Ensure consistent execution from store to store on programs, signage and racks
Partner cross functionally with retail operations and merchandising in a way that provides timely feedback and escalates issues that could prevent execution of plans
Monitor competitor activities for pricing, selection, service, seasonal opportunities, vulnerabilities, new innovations in product, technology and service
Collaborate with HR and Ops Leadership in the maintenance of succession pipeline and a selection of talent
Act as the field liaison to ensure execution with supplier relationships within food categories
Ensure compliance with all security, safety and loss prevention procedures, taking corrective action to prevent or resolve inventory losses
Focus on customer service and product offering to enhance the company Food Service brand
Function as a food safety expert in the field
Training and Development

Prepare and coach new hires and newly promoted leaders for on-the-job performance utilizing company training programs
Provide coaching and feedback to trainers, trainees and all store team members
Monitor training hours and dollars at each store; hold managers accountable to comply with approved program
Assess the progression of learning for each individual and makes recommendations for improvement as well as recognizes those exceeding the standard
Evaluate “certified kitchen trainers” on a quarterly basis; develop action plans and provide feedback
Schedule and coordinate kitchen training team personnel for new store openings

Must be reliable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled
May not sign contracts on behalf of the company
Maintain confidentiality of all company information, is forthcoming in reporting all policy and procedural violations and any wrongdoing to the director of human resources

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
ServSafe/Other CFPM Certification within the first 90 days of employment
Associates in Food Science, Food Services, Nutrition, or other related degree
3 years of experience in retail or convenience store Food Service operations
At least 2 years of experience with the food safety standards
At least 2 years of experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members
Microsoft Office Skills required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be enthusiastic, energetic and have a high level of energy
Must have valid driver’s license and be able to go between stores without difficulty
