Position Summary:
Join our small team of System Administrators supporting multiple applications on diverse set of RHEL and SLES Linux Platforms. We have a small team that innovates and contributes to the applications hosted on a variety of iddleware/SOA platforms. You will be provided with opportunities to learn and make a difference. This role applies system administration techniques to support applications hosted on the middleware/SOA platforms for the Office of the President or institutional objectives to resolve highly complex issues. It includes analysis of situations or data and requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. There is a constant learning involved in supporting new applications that are added to the stack.

Duty 1: Manage and develop standards and documentation for best class SOA/Middleware framework in support of UCOP enterprise applications including but not limited to (Peoplesoft HCM, OBIEE, DataWarehouse, etc).

Manages collaboration and works closely with application teams to educate & enforce the standards. Install, configure and support for middleware/SOA platforms supported by UCOP that include Oracle SOA, JBOSS, and Tomcat.

Develop, implement and maintain procedures to ensure a reliable and secure production environment. Determine and implement solutions with speed and accuracy. Work with vendors and UCOP technical staff in resolving problems.

Manages the development of programs and scripts for automating system configurations and setting up application monitoring.

Develop SOA hosted functionality and related validation scripts / capabilities.

Duty 2: Identify best practice techniques to provide Middleware/SOA solutions in order to address customer needs and complaints.

Manage and respond to service now requests, incidents and changes. Involves in problem management, log analysis and performance optimization of different hosted applications.

Evaluate various hardware and software solutions to meet business requirements. Develop procedures for implementation of new hardware and software.

Design, plan and implement software deployments, migrations and upgrades maximizing security, management and application availability.

Duty 3: Prepare logic diagrams of middleware/SOA detailing various system components and application flow.

Document systems, processes and procedures for OSMG and production control staff. Transfer information to Computer Operations group for supporting production systems.

Provide on-call production support for critical applications such as UCPath, ApplyUC, and AYSO

Duty 30: Will serve as team lead in order to provide direction, motivation, and development for the staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth, and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.

Train and mentor development of staff in technical tools and techniques in order to maximize their contribution to the team. Responsible for suggesting, reviewing and justifying new technical tools and techniques and managing their implementation.

Allocate work assignments and ticket requests to employees based on business needs and employee work loads.

Assign special projects as needed.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and at least 8-10 years of relevant experience.

8 years of experience performing Middleware/SOA Administration in a load balanced environment with products such as F5-BIG IP and NetScaler.

8 years of experience with Apache/IHS/IIS web server administration.

Proven experience and knowledge with developing and supporting SOA interfaces with various third party applications and infrastructure.

Demonstrated expertise with trouble shooting J2EE applications on Unix/Windows systems. Demonstrated understanding of security concepts in a Middleware environment and experience writing UNIX shell scripts.

Ability to learn new technologies and support applications.

Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to interact with others in a consistently positive manner, exercising discretion and tact. Excellent written communications skills which demonstrate the ability to draft clear, concise specifications, documentation and reports.

In depth experience in load testing methodology and tools such as load runner or JMeter. Hands on experience testing client server java applications.

Advanced communication skills to effectively convey and explain technical information and the ability to influence and persuade. Liaise with vendors, UC campuses and tactfully deal with diverse people and situations.

Demonstrated ability to plan assignments and monitor performance according to priorities as demonstrated by regularly meeting established deadlines. Ability to function in a leadership role on projects.

Demonstrated ability to perform competently under pressure, handling interruptions and changes without losing productivity.

Must be able to provide 24x7 on call support as assigned.

4+ years of SOA/OSB Development experience.

4+ years of experience administrating Oracle SOA in a production environment.

4+ years of programming/analysis experience.

4+ years of WebLogic experience administering Oracle's WebLogic 11.x application server in a highly-available, clustered environment.

Demonstrated experience with configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef. Knowledge of Git is a plus.

Direct experience with Mulesoft.

Knowledge of API Gateway Tools (Layer 7).

In-depth knowledge of Oracle SOA Middleware Suite and Oracle Service Bus (OSB).

Perform performance tuning and optimization across Fusion Middleware Java Applications and Oracle Linux.

Deep understanding of the Web application architecture and features.

Experience leading a team of IT professionals in multiple technology areas.
