This is a part-time position. The incumbent will work up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is to be determined. There is currently one vacancy in the Park Ambassador Program. Bilingual pay is an additional $1.01/hr, if applicable. This recruitment is open until further notice and can close at any time and without notice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
PARK AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
Under general supervision, assigned to Reservations Administration to assist in an administrative capacity in the operation of the Park Ambassador Program while providing some additional support to Dan Young Soccer Complex (DYSC), the Santa Ana Stadium and Willard Intermediate Sports Complex reservations which includes leading the Park Ambassador Program staff; works in cooperation with Reservations Administration Supervisor to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of customer service of staff; conducts regular staff trainings and meetings; develops standardized and consistent practices within all aspects of Reservations Administration; works with and meets regularly with league representatives, athletic directors and other DYSC/Stadium/Willard Int. users; will oversee the requirement that all organizations are compliant with the facility, field & park reservations; through CivicRec Program enters user reservations and may prepare billing accordingly; works cooperatively with General Maintenance staff and Fleet Maintenance staff when required; assist in maintaining cleanliness of facilities; maintains inventory of facility supplies; conducts regular inspections and reports hazardous or unsafe conditions of athletic facilities, fields and parks; follows up with facility users when violations occur as defined in the S.A.M.C., Athletic Field Use Policies & Procedures and Synthetic Field Rules & Regulations; writes detailed reports and letters on rules violations; oversees the operation of the Park Ambassador Program with support from Area 6 Community Services Supervisor. May be assigned to work the DAKTRONICS scoreboard system at the SA Stadium.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have education equivalent to graduation from high school or G.E.D. Two years of experience handling recreation programs and activities, including program planning, leadership, interaction with the public and strong CivicRec registration software principles. Knowledge of city facility usage, classes and special events or related experience.
Education: Two years college coursework with an emphasis in education, recreation administration, public administration, business administration, child development, gerontology or related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must have reliable transportation.
Ability to deal professionally with customers of all ages.

License/Certificate:
Possession and retention of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required
CPR and First Aid certificates are desirable
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of: public relations; park rules and regulations; personal computers, CivicRec registration software, current MS Office software applications and Windows operating system.
Ability to: perform assignments without close supervision; work with children and adults; provide clear, effective and precise direction to other staff; communicate professionally to general public, other employees and sports facility patrons; work in a team environment; understand and communicate effectively in English (verbal and written); use correct grammar and spelling; be well-organized and attentive to detail; exercise good judgment; work in a public setting; perform job duties with a high level knowledge of Agency guidelines, Park regulations, City policies and Santa Ana Municipal Codes; handle a variety of emergency situations specific to recreation programs and facilities.

Special Working Conditions:
WORK SCHEDULE: This position works a varied schedule of assigned hours, Monday - Friday, weekends, and holidays as needed, including mandatory work schedule for facility and city-wide special events as needed. For the Park Ambassador Program assignment, employees must be willing and able to work on the 4th of July.
OTHER: Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs.

Note: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Hmong, Korean, or Samoan is highly desirable.
