Senior Systems Integration Engineer – Global Service Engineering – Medical Devices
Baxter Global Service Engineering sustains millions of Baxter and third-party medical devices through software, hardware, and process development. Our mission and devices touch patients’ lives every day across the globe.
This role is part of Baxter’s Global Service Engineering team in Deerfield, IL. This role actively contributes towards design, coding, hardware/software integration, and testing of product sustainment equipment and processes. The role collaborates closely with globally-distributed Baxter and third-party teams. A successful team member will have a mix of skills including a strong engineering background (software, systems, etc.), project management knowledge, and stakeholder engagement experience.
Apply a solid understanding of engineering and problem-solving theories/practices toward the development of new or enhanced products/processes
Create service deliverables required to support product launch/lifecycle management
Design and integrate hardware and software test fixtures, tools, and equipment used in service processes
Develop process content for service manuals and education materials
Perform Design for Service (DFS) activities to improve existing & newly developed products
Implement opportunities for improvement to process quality, cost, or product reliability
Coordinate information flow among global teams
Own Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) related to the products
Perform standard software development assignments (software requirements specification, design, develop code, unit testing, etc.) which are typically a significant portion of a larger project
Utilize software engineering methodologies to solve straightforward problems (e.g., software requirements management, UML, software configuration management, FMEA)
Independently plan, schedule, and lead cross-functional teams as part of engineering projects
Bachelor’s degree in a core engineering discipline (systems - INCOSE, software, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering)
3+ years of relevant experience
Hardware & software integration
Developing test software in a manufacturing or service environment
Use of the software development lifecycle
Using configuration control and change control tools
A solid technical understanding of software engineering principles (e.g., SDLC, IEC 62304).
Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW, TestStand, C++, Python or similar
Experience with Microsoft Studio, Atlassian products (Bitbucket/git, JIRA) or similar
Experience with software engineering tools and principles (development environments, configuration management, test methods).
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (20%)
Previous experience as a biomedical engineer or in a healthcare setting
Previous experience manufacturing or servicing consumer electronics, medical devices
Demonstrated competency in medical device industry or other regulated environments
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality system requirements
Previous experience in failure analysis or root cause analysis
