**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced NYS Licensed Optician to manage our Optical Shop. Our optician for the past 19 years is retiring and we are starting our search for her replacement.
Albany Eye Associates is a physician owned private practice that has been in Albany for over 50 years. The Optical Shop offers our valued patients a full range of services to accommodate any lifestyle and budget. Education is a very important part of the eyewear and lens selection. Our goal is to provide our patients with the best quality frames and lenses that will maximize their vision and comfort.
The majority of sales is cash based as we do not accept Vision insurance here. The Optical Shop is open Monday - Friday from 8:15-4:45.
The Optical Manager receives a bonus each January and July based on profit of the optical shop.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Maintains NYS Ophthalmic Dispensing licensure.
2. Demonstrates appropriate team player attitude and enthusiasm.
3. Wide-ranging knowledge applicable to eye care and current trends in eyewear.
4. Extensive experience and understanding of all aspects related to operations of a modern optical dispensary.
5. Works accurately and efficiently in Word and Excel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Business Planning
a. Develops an annual business plan for the optical shop and presents it to the owners.
b. Develops annual marketing plans or ideas with the Practice Administrator.
c. Serves as primary interface with vendors.
d. Oversees day-to-day operations.
e. Ensures that patients are properly educated regarding their vision prescription and available options.
f. Maintains emphasis on profitable operations while satisfying patient needs.
g. Maintains appropriate standards of quality, honesty, and patient service.
h. Maintains up-to-date procedural manuals, as appropriate.
i. Constantly assesses financial performance and institutes appropriate enhancements in consultation with the doctor.
j. Works with other managers to ensure comprehensive completion of all operational tasks.
k. Ensures that all dispensary-related objectives are met.
2. Operations
a. Develops and manages effective inventory control.
b. Tracks referrals and capture rate effectively.
c. Develops and communicates effective monthly reports.
d. Works with area labs to negotiate pricing and servicing.
e. Works with frame and contact lens vendors to negotiate pricing and services.
f. Manages accounts payable for the optical shop.
g. Manages accounts receivable for the optical shop.
h. Maintain a clean and neat workspace including vacuuming the floor and dusting all displays daily.
i. Other tasks as required.

Pay: From $57,000.00 per year
