POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Manager, Strategy develops and implements strategic communications that promote and share Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s stories from all aspects of our company – retail locations, destinations, products, brands and experiences – to key audiences. This position works closely with the Senior Communications Manager and Director of Communications to develop strategy, while overseeing the daily execution of communications plans across key channels.
We’re seeking a highly strategic and creative communications professional with a proven track record managing national and local media relations and communications programs for high-profile brands that drive results to achieve key business goals. The successful candidate has a passion for connecting people to nature and our mission to inspire everyone to enjoy, love and conserve the great outdoors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Support company-wide PR and media relations programs, including overseeing the media relations team and agency partners, and managing key PR campaigns for our innovative retail events, products, and initiatives to generate meaningful coverage and awareness in national, local, digital and outdoor industry outlets (40%).

Guide communications strategy for key business segments including White River Marine Group (boat and ATV manufacturing), CLUB loyalty program and key marketing partners and vendors (10%).

Implement the conservation and community communications plan, including annual impact report and ongoing content development (15%)

Manage the communications editorial calendar, budget and partners (10%)

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop messaging, content and programs that drive clear narratives about our brands, products and mission (15%)

Support crisis communications, issues management, reputation and strategic objectives with the director of communications (10%).

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication’s, PR, journalism, English or equivalent experience.
Previous experience with internal communications programs, media/publication and design highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 – 7 years of professional experience in PR, Marketing Communications with agency experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Experience working directly with reporters, editors, producers and bloggers to generate meaningful coverage.

Strong storyteller with the ability to craft compelling narratives leveraging written and visual mediums (photo, video, digital, design).

Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where flexibility, creativity and collaboration are keys to success.

Exceptional writing skills with the ability to craft engaging messages, news releases, pitches and written content.

Strong organizational and project management skills.
