The Statistical Programmer Analyst will be exposed to a variety of data management, programming, or statistical analysis tasks. This position requires strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills with a keen attention to detail. Additionally, the problems and toolset are quite varied, and the candidate will take the initiative to attack new challenges and learn new skills independently. This person must be well organized and flexible. We desire someone with diverse experience and skills in data analysis, statistical software, analytic programming languages (SAS, R, Python, SQL ), data visualization tools, and database management. The position’s tasks primarily involve using SAS (and occasionally R) for data manipulation, cleaning, and data matching across many large datasets. The Analyst should also be able to clearly articulate data analysis work in written and verbal formats.

Candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain Public Trust or other security clearance as required.

Work location: Federal Government client site in Washington, DC

Work with client to identify their needs and jointly develop solutions through leveraging all available analytic options.
Coordinate with the project team and government stakeholders to develop; refine; and execute person-centric data matching standards across datasets (e.g., business rules, fuzzy matching and algorithm).
Efficiently manage large datasets with millions of rows in SAS
Use best practice methods to clean, manipulate, transform, merge, and match datasets in SAS.
Design or write program specifications.
Convert specifications into SAS code to generate datasets and Tables, Listings, and Figures outputs.
Write documentation on the data structure design and data crosswalks
Implement quality control procedures throughout SAS coding.
Coordinate with other programmers about program revisions.
Finalize datasets for use in a new dashboard tool
Provide regular status updates regarding assigned tasks
Ensure successful completion of work, timeliness of deliverables, and quality control
Education, Knowledge, and Experience

BA or Master’s Degree in social science, public policy, statistics or computer science related field
3+ years’ experience using SAS for data cleaning/manipulation/matching and; good knowledge of techniques for efficiently managing large datasets
Experience with R preferred
3+ years’ experience in data cleaning, data quality, data manipulation, and data matching
Ability to work independently and collaborate with different teams and stakeholders
US Citizen and ability to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance
