Structural Steel Detailer/Modeler
The modeler completes models for the detailer/cad operator, can produce drawings and other documents for the manufacturing and erection of steel members (columns, beams, braces, trusses, stairs, handrails, joists, metal decking, etc.) used in new/renovation projects; commercial/industrial, K-12, religious, healthcare, retail, office buildings, etc.
The Modeler will work reasonably independent but would still be under the direct supervision of the Detailing Manager / Engineer for any given project.
Responsibilities
- Understanding and reading contract drawings, specs and/or addendums
- Understanding detailing department standards, policies, and processes
- Knowledge of AISC Steel Construction
- Completing tasks within the allotted time frame to meet or beat project schedules
- Complete 3D models using SDS/2 and/or other similar programs
- Coordinate Joist drawings
- Update models with RFI & back from approvals as needed
- Coordinate with lead detailer/ Cad operator
- Generate RFI as may be needed
Experience
- SDS2 or Tekla
- Basic mathematics including geometry and trigonometry
- Shop and/or field experience a plus

Education
- Minimum, Associate degree in drafting from an accredited school
