Corporate Controller

Basic Job Function:
Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), the Controller is a senior leader of the Insurity Finance organization and will be responsible for oversight of all Insurity global accounting activities and for maintaining a strong financial and internal control environment. The Controller will manage the accounting team and lead day-to-day finance operations, including responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, T&E administration, payroll, and external financial and tax reporting. The Controller will also work collaboratively with the CFO and the head of Financial Planning & Analysis on budgeting, financial planning, and internal reporting activities.

What you’ll be doing:
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and financial reporting systems to ensure integrity and compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the monthly close process and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Support the preparation of monthly results highlighting variances from budget and prior year, forecasts and other projections in collaboration with the head of FP&A.
Maintain internal control and safeguards for all financial transactions.
Coordinate all external audit activity, including the annual financial audit, ERISA/401k audits, and any other required audits.
Manage and lead the company’s outsourced tax planning and reporting partner, including compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable tax requirements. This includes tax for our international operations, specifically Canada and the UK.
Support the management of the relationship with lenders in a leveraged environment.
Monitor and control expenses in collaboration with the head of FP&A, including the approving of capital expenditures
Consistently analyze and reconcile financial data; present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; and monitor progress and changes to keep senior leadership abreast of Insurity’s financial status.
Continuously collaborate with department heads to establish and maintain financial and administrative systems to support the business effectively.
Help to develop and implement training programs for Finance team members to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
Provide forward looking insight and function as a strategic business partner, enabler and a problem solver in strategic issues.
Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:
10+ years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience that includes managing a professional staff.
A Bachelor’s degree and CPA are required.
Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments and fixed assets.
Ability to manage people and processes as well as perform analysis and tasks independently as required.
Keen analytic and organizational skills that allow for strategic data interpretation in addition to reporting.
Strong problem-solving skills with proactive approach to devising and implementing improvements to financial operations and reporting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to Board of Directors, and external partners; ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
Business acquisition and integration acumen.
Hands-on experience with enterprise financial management software.
